i wrote this when i lived in St. Vincent, which is actually in international waters. it was inspired by spur of the moment heartbreak that happened there, as well as living in close proximity to the sea

I always told myself this isn’t a crime
chalked it up to just killing time
but all of that changes that night that you cried

dangerous how you came home and said
you’d be there for me til the very end
who says that and means it and drifts back to shore
